Text.01. Brazilian society is made up of a
confluence of people of several different origins, from the original Native
Americans, with the influx of Portugueses colonizers,Black Africans slaves, and
recent European, Arab and Japanese immigration. Other significant groups
include Koreans, Chinese, Paraguayans and Bolivians. In
the 19th and 20th centuries, Brazilian culture has promoted racial integration
and mixing.
Text 02. “ For the first time in Brazilian
history, social policies have begun to explicity promote social integration of
blacks and multtos. Such policies do not merely seek to eliminate or alleviate
material poverty but also strive to eliminate or reduce class, racial, gender,
and other dicriminations...”

Text 04. When a fan threw a banana at Brazilian
soccer player Dani Alves, who plays for FC Barcelona, he responded by calmly
picking it up, peeling it, and taking a bite. Then he seamlessly resumed play
and took his corner kick. His team went on to beat Villarreal 3-2.
“I don’t know who threw the banana
but I want to thank him,” Alves told the Daily Mail. “It gave me
the energy to put two more crosses in for our goal.” Alves also commented on
Twitter: “My father always told me: son,
eat bananas to avoid cramping lol how did they figure this out?”

Never regret
If it's good,
It's wonderful.
If it's not, it's
experience.(Victoria Holt)
Text 06.
Regrets
like theses can become a constant reminder of “what could have been”. But it
doesn't have to be that way. Regrets can also enlighten and be an incentive for
new opportunity. Here's how that might happen:
.
Conquer your negative emotions;
.
Use your regrets to motivate yourself to take a different action.
.
Antecipate future regrets before you make major decisions.
.
Use regrets to learn more about what's important to you.
“
Make your 'woulda, coulda, shouldas' works for you.”
Text.07 Life
Life: It’s about maximizing opportunities
and minimizing regrets. It’s about accepting our destined fate and appreciating
the moments. It’s about taking chances and learning from mistakes.
In a time when you have absolutely
nothing to lose (in the grander scheme of things) and no responsibilities but
to take care of yourself, why aren’t you going out and exploring the world?
Text.08 REGRETS IN
LIFE
We are all busy. Life happens. There’s always
something to distract us from getting around to certain things we know we
should do. Soccer practice. Work. Home renovations. Getting that next big
promotion. And with the explosion of always-on smartphones and tablets
delivering a fire hose of urgent emails, not to mention Twitter and Facebook,
in recent years, things have only gotten busier.
In the backs of our minds, we know we’re neglecting
some stuff we should do. But we never get around to it. Then, something
happens. A good friend or loved one – maybe close to us in age – drops dead
unexpectedly. We begin to think about what our biggest regrets would be if we
were suddenly sitting on our death bed.

Text.01
Cultural diffusion is the spread of culture,
including aspects such as clothing and food, from one group to another,
typically as a result of making contact for the first time.
European explorers bringing back foods and other items, such as tobacco, from
newly explored lands is an example of cultural diffusion.
When one culture begins to adopt elements of another, be it in manner,
religion, food, clothing, agricultural practice or other cultural elements,
this is cultural diffusion. People in Moscow experienced cultural diffusion
from America when McDonalds was first introduced in that region. The concept of
a fast-food restaurant serving hamburgers was exotic and new to them at that
time. Cultural diffusion isn't necessarily a good thing, however. It can lead
to the displacement of native cultural traditions, and it can even be
dangerous. For example, according to Boise State University, when French
explorers arrived in North America, they introduced the smallpox virus, which ended
up devastating populations of natives whose immune systems had never been
exposed to that particular disease.
Text. 02
Brazilian culture has been shaped by
various groups of migrants: Portuguese, Italian, Japanese, African, Arabian and
German, and to a lesser extent by original inhabitants, just to mention the
most important influences. Different population groups and different cultural
customs and visual cultures mingled. This is reflected in Brazilian food, for
example. The daily menu of an average family may include Portuguese, Japanese,
Indian, Arabian and Italian recipes.
After colonization, the Dutch and
Portuguese brought huge numbers of slaves to Brazil
to work on the plantations. These slaves kept some of their traditions, so that
even today various African influences are to be found in Brazilian culture — in
visual arts, in music and in food. African influences in contemporary art are
often in the works of artists from Afro-Brazilian families. During the
colonization period talented slaves were recruited to decorate churches, though
they had to conform to the Catholic canon. It was not until the second half of
the 20th century that artists went searching for their cultural roots and, for
example, work began to appear based on visual elements in traditional African
religions such as Umbanda, for centuries the means of spiritual escape for
slaves.

“You may excel in several different areas, which is good, because
workers no longer necessarily stay in one kind of job for a lifetime. People
are usually good at the things they enjoy, so slow down. Give yourself time to
see where you excel. I am positive that if you do, you'll find your passion(s)
in a field you enjoy.”

Text 3 ABUSE HUMILIATE OFFEND
Bullying is a common occurrence in most schools. According to the American Psychological Association, "40% to 80% of school-age children experience bullying at some point during their school careers." Regardless of grade level, socioeconomic environment, gender, religion, or sexual orientation, bullying can happen to anyone. However, various studies point out that students from lower socioeconomic backgrounds are more bullied than students from higher ones. The following statistics help to illustrate the severity of bullying within classrooms.
“You have the right
to dignity at work. Degrading and offensive behavior is NOT ACCEPTABLE and will
not be tolerated. Together we can end
bullying and harassment at school.”
