Adding up the cost of a basket full of groceries involves the same math process regardless of whether the total is expressed in dollars, euros, or reais.

How can math be so universal? First, human beings didn't invent math concepts; we discovered them.

But virtually all of us possess the ability to be "literate" in the shared language of numbers, which connects us with people across continents and through time.

Math can help us in our daily lives, by helping us make important decisions and perform everyday tasks.

Matemática pode nos ajudar em nossas vidas diárias, nos ajudando a tomar decisões importantes e executar tarefas do dia a dia.

Math is not just for professors and scientists. It's for all of us. And it's not just about calculating difficult equations.

Matemática não é apenas para professores e cientistas. Ela é para todos nós. E ela não é apenas para calcular equações difíceis.

It's about making better daily decisions and, hopefully, leading richer, fuller lives.

Ela é para tomar as melhores decisões diárias e, esperançosamente, guiar vidas mais ricas, mais completas.
